ChimneySweep® 5.1 Database File Compatibility
ChimneySweep® 5.1 is compatible with database files (".DB" and related files) produced by the following products:
- Paradox® for Windows (any version)
- Paradox for Windows “Runtime”
- Paradox for DOS (any version since Release 2.0)
- Executable programs written in Borland Delphi® or C++Builder® which use the BDE™ (IDAPI™) database engines to reference Paradox-formatted files.
Although Paradox for DOS database files are supported, ChimneySweep runs only in a Microsoft Windows® environment.
ChimneySweep Release 5.1 will function in either 16-bit or 32-bit Windows environments, because compatible native versions of the product are provided for both.
- Please be advised that 16-bit native support has been discontinued after Release 5.1. In all future releases, your jobs will continue to run exactly as they did before, and will continue to process all of the database file-formats that they did before, but ChimneySweep itself will hereafter run only in native 32-bit Windows environments.
“How can I tell what kind of database I have?”
The mere presence of a file with the extension ".DB" is not sufficient indication that your database will be compatible with ChimneySweep. You should look for the presence of other files in the same directory, with the same name as a ".DB" file in that directory, but with extensions such as (for example):
- ".PX"
- ".VAL"
- ".MB"
