Business-Intelligence Services
Every modern business accumulates vast amounts of data concerning its operations. There are practical reasons for this ... “the tax-man cometh” ... but business information is more than just a matter of practicality. It's a resource.
Our take on “business intelligence (BI)” is just a little bit different, though. We don't build “dashboards,” don't kill trees to produce reports that nobody reads. Data, even accurately and timely reported, is not knowledge.
We define Business Intelligence as simply, “the process of leveraging existing historical data to produce useful present-day answers, to specific targeted questions.” No one has yet invented a magical answers-machine that will tell you what to do, but plenty of powerful techniques do exist that will sift through perhaps large amounts of data to yield useful results or to explain mysterious behavior.
A business-intelligence engagement begins with specific questions requiring answers or explanation. The more specific, the better. We'll help you evaluate the data resources that you have, to determine their usefulness and quality with respect to the particular application you have in mind. We'll help you set up a combination of tools and techniques that will enable you to find these answers both now and in the future. And yet, as always, we don't sell anything except our expertise, so you know that the strategic advice you're getting isn't “on commission.”
