Not surprisingly, all of them are described from time to time as “silver bullets,” and so-called experts invariably argue that you should drop everything and adopt the latest new thing immediately. But you can't do that. And, you shouldn't.
Some of the “great new things” from our past have become legendary; others were positively stillborn. Some were quickly supplanted by better things, and the early-adopters just got burned. Some techniques that were excellent in years past are still excellent, while others truly have outlived their usefulness and should properly be retired.
